Any smart home worth its salt needs upgrades from time to time.

At our Water Mill client’s stunning 7,000-square-foot, 8-bedroom, 9.5-bath residence, we created a smart home that is the ultimate in comfort and convenience.

The home was newly constructed in 2015, and we started the home automation work from the ground up, laying down wires and installing smart home systems and speakers before the walls were closed up, spackled, and painted. Though we can retrofit our work, it’s ideal — and more cost- and time-efficient — to implement smart home technology during a home’s construction.

We designed the entire smart home system with a Control4 home automation hub, Lutron lighting controls, Sonos whole house distributed audio, Control4 climate control, a Luma video surveillance system, and access control (keyless entry with multiple automated locks and keycodes for various members of the household).

Because everything is integrated into Control4, the homeowners can manage all their tech needs through a Control4 remote or the Control4 app on their in-wall iPads or mobile phones. Easy and convenient!

There is no shortage of home entertainment spaces — this home has a private media room and nine TVs. And with our HDMI video matrix, family members can watch different shows simultaneously. Whether the homeowners are working out in their private home gym, relaxing with the family in the TV room or playroom, or unwinding in the master bathroom, entertainment is a click away.

We’ve returned to upgrade the Control4 operating system, install the hottest Halo remotes, and set up a Chime video doorbell. We’re also redoing the equipment rack, otherwise known as the brains of the operation, which makes everything work seamlessly for our client.

Future work could include landscape lighting, newer TVs, and upgraded in-wall iPads.

Only the latest and greatest will do!
